Using WordPress? How To Get Your New Blog Article In Google Search Results Within 30 Minutes

by Sheldon Nesdale on 5 January 2010

Why wait for Googlebot to visit your website next week and notice your new blog post when you can tell Google that your new blog article is ready to show the world right now?

By default, your WordPress installation will have one url to ping, but that’s not enough, you need more.

Here’s What You Do In 3 Easy Steps

  1. Login to WordPress
  2. Go to “Settings” tab >> Click on “Writing”
  3. In the “Update Services” box copy and paste the following list (and then click “Save Changes”)

List of urls

http://api.feedster.com/ping

http://api.moreover.com/ping

http://api.my.yahoo.com/RPC2

That’s it!  Using this technique I’ve had new blog articles appear in Google Search Results pages within 30 minutes.

Not Using WordPress?

That’s a real shame, because you probably don’t have access to this feature. Would you like me to build a website for you using wordpress? Call me (07) 575 8799 or email me.

Thanks for those Sheldon. I’ve never played around with that update box but now it’s chock full of goodness!

I don’t have an update box on my blogs. I’m using Wordpress mu 2.9.1 and Wordpress 3 trunk.

My privacy settings are correct. Is this an option on current or earlier versions?

Thanks

Well, I dug around and apparently it’s was not available in MU. It’s not in 3.0 right now. There are plugins for it though.
